The Parang Mountains - winter

Mountains have always been a refuge for people and will probably continue to be.

Situated in the west side of Southern Carpathians, Parang Mountains (called one of Europe last “hidden gems”) form the eastern barrier of the Jiu Valley. The highest peak is Parangu Mare – 2518m and offers a spectacular view.

The Parang mountains are located in the south-western part of the Central-Meridional Carpathians. They are the tallest mountains from the local Parang-Cindrel mountain group and the second largest mountains in the Romanian Carpathians after the Fagaras mountains. They are situated between the Sureanu mountains (north), Latoritei mountains (north-east), Căpăţânii mountains (east), Valcanu mountains (west) and the Petrosani depression in the north-west.

These mountains are the perfect location to lose yourself in the misty landscape and mild springs, to step on the blossom field and feel you free. Villagers’ smile gives you a feeling of inner peace that makes you want to come back there. I’ll share with you some pictures: enjoy!

“A mountain is composed of tiny grains of earth. The ocean is made up of tiny drops of water. Even so, life is but an endless series of little details, actions, speeches, and thoughts. And the consequences whether good or bad of even the least of them are far-reaching.” Sivananda

“There's a world out there, and you've got to look at both sides of the mountain in your lifetime.”  Bill Janklow

“It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.” Edmund Hillary

"I've learned that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.”

"The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones." Chinese proverb

“I owned the world that hour as I rode over it. free of the earth, free of the mountains, free of the clouds, but how inseparably I was bound to them.” Charles Lindbergh
